Hello, Jon. I have a question about the recent changes page. I can see user talk page edits here in Nias Wikipedia, but I don't see it on other Wikipedia editions. Is it shown to the administrator only or all users? I hope not the second because it is a personal place to be seen by everyone.

@Banio ba Hinako: Hi! All edits, including user talk pages, are shown in recent changes for all users. Not just here, but on all Wikimedia projects. @Banio ba Hinako: No problem. I think some of the confusion might also come because you are used to the Incubator – on the Incubator, there are two "recent changes" links, and the most prominent one goes to changes for the test project you have set in your preferences. I.e. pages beginning with "Wp/nia/". Since user talk pages are outside of that, they will not show up in those recent changes (but the other "recent changes" link will show them), but on all other pages they will normally show up. @Yasanto Lase: No worries! Portal Namespace

Hi, I've only just started looking closely at nia.wikipedia (the Nias community I'm member of has asked me to set up a few things there) and I noticed that the Portal namespace (100-101) is missing. @Slaia: No problem whatsoever! To request a new namespace, you should first get community consensus for the change. The easiest way to do that is to suggest the idea in the village pump (I guess that's Portal:Orahua), and after about a week has passed and there is a clear sign of support for the suggestion (from several other users), we can request the change to be made in Phabricator. So if you can start a discussion about it, I'd be more than happy to help after the discussion is done, either by filing the ticket in Phabricator, or – even better – by teaching you how to do it, if you're willing. :-) Jon Harald Søby (talk) 04:31, 9 Maret 2021 (WIB)

Hi @Jon_Harald_Søby, I had proposed the creation of the namespace Portal and the active members of the community agreed. I would be glad, if you could help us further. I'm also willing to learn if you could provide me with instruction. At the moment I'm still in the process of setting up the necessary templates for nia.wp among other things (which surprsingly a long long list, copying the templates from other wp and paste into nia.wp). @Slaia: That's great! Okay, so here are the step-by-step instructions.

1. Log in to Phabricator (you can do so with your normal Wikimedia account).
2. Create a new task
3. The title should be something like "Set up Portal namespace for Nias Wikipedia"
4. In the description, say what you want to do (in this case, add Portal namespace for Nias Wikipedia). Provide a link to the on-wiki discussion (important!), and make it clear what the two namespaces ("Portal" and "Portal talk") should be named (also important).
5. Under "Tags", enter "Wikimedia-Site-requests". This makes sure that the task is entered in the right place.
6. If you want, you can add me under "Subscribers" – my username on Phabricator is jhsoby.
7. Press "Create New Task", and you're done!

This process can also be repeated for other requests to change things, like if the logo should be changed or if there are specific MediaWiki extensions you would like to get enabled, or anything like that. Just remember to have an on-wiki discussion first, and point to it from the task. How to get the import form?

Hi @Jon Harald Søby, I was trying to translate this article (Molineria_capitulata) from en.wp, when I realised it has a template with a lot of dependencies (basically the whole taxonomy related templates).

I would like to import all those templates, as we would need them every time we write about plants. But when I tried to import the xml file with import pages I only get the message "No wikis from which to import have been defined and direct history uploads are disabled" and nothing else (no form to select the xml file). Although I'm an admin. Would you advise of a way to do this, considering that we will need to import a lot other templates too? slaiatalk 9 April 2021 17.11 (WIB)
